EasyPot Pet Control: Keeping Your Herbs Safe
As much as we love our pets, sometimes they can be a little too interested in our EasyPot herb gardens. Whether it’s cats attracted to the greenery or dogs curious about the new addition to the kitchen, keeping pets away from your EasyPot can be a challenge. We’ve gathered some of the best advice from our EasyPot community on how to protect your herbs from curious pets.
1. Place your EasyPot on a high shelf or countertop where pets can’t reach it easily.
2. Consider placing a clear plastic dome or mini greenhouse over your EasyPot.
3. An unconventional but effective method is to place your EasyPot inside a decorative bird cage.
4. For larger pets, setting up a baby gate around the area where your EasyPot is located can be effective.
5. Use fine mesh or bird netting secured with command strips to cover your EasyPot while still allowing light through.
6. Keep a spray bottle handy and give pets a quick spritz when they approach the EasyPot.
7. Place strips of aluminum foil around your EasyPot. Many pets dislike the sound and texture.
8. Apply a small amount of Vicks VapoRub around the perimeter of your EasyPot. The strong smell often deters pets. (Reapply every 2 weeks)
9. Place empty plastic containers near your EasyPot that will make noise if knocked over, startling pets.
10. Consider growing cat grass or catnip in a separate pot near your EasyPot to distract your pets.
11. Create a pet-friendly plant area to redirect their attention away from your EasyPot.
12. Use strong tape to secure the lid and any removable parts of your EasyPot.
14. If possible, keep your EasyPot in a room that can be closed off when you’re not around.
15. For serious herb enthusiasts with persistent pets, consider setting up a dedicated, pet-free plant room.
16. Use positive reinforcement techniques to teach your pets to stay away from the EasyPot.
17. Ensure your pets have plenty of toys and activities to keep them occupied and away from your herbs.
Remember, while protecting your EasyPot is important, always prioritize your pet’s safety. Avoid using any deterrents that could be harmful if ingested, and never use methods that could injure or overly stress your pets.
With these tips, you should be able to find a solution that works for both you and your pets. Remember, every pet is different, so you might need to try a few methods before finding the perfect solution. Happy herb growing, and may your EasyPot and pets coexist peacefully!
